Arco Iris Lodge

Arco Iris Lodge offers a tranquil tropical retreat close to the center of the village of Santa Elena, Monteverde. Accommodation is in well designed, comfortable cabins, constructed by local craftsmen using building materials from the surrounding area. Each of the twelve cabins offers a private bathroom with hot water and a balcony or terrace. The cabins are set among carefully preserved forest fragments and landscaped gardens where both ornamental plants and a variety of fruit trees abound, attracting many different species of birds and butterflies.

We prepare a hearty and delicious buffet breakfast daily, featuring freshly prepared foods - some made from our own organic garden produce - representing a blend of European and Costa Rican cuisine. We offer hot and cold drinks throughout the day. There are several restaurants within walking distance of the hotel which serve a variety of local and international dishes. 

El Establo

Fonda Vela

On the Hotel property, you will find lush forests and verdant pastures that are excellent for birding and hiking. We maintain over a kilometer of nature trails. In this tranquil setting, you can often see parrots and toucans that come to feed in the wild fruit trees. During certain months, the Fonda Vela is an excellent place to see Resplendent Quetzals and Three-wattled Bellbirds. Two kilometers away is the world famous, 10,500-hectare (26,000 acres) Monteverde Cloud Forest Reserve. 

The Fonda Vela Hotel has nine buildings nestled in the beautifully landscaped property. Each is designed with natural lighting, privacy and warmth. All have large windows, with views of our forest, bringing the outside beauty into each luxurious, comfortable and cozy room.

Heliconia

The hotel offers a perfect setting for the visitors who love bird-watching, nature photography and serenity of a mountain retreat. It has been designed to offer home-style comfort in the warmth of all wood construction, assuring the guest an unforgettable vacation.

Around 1987, when the number of scientists and tourists visiting the Monteverde Biological Reserve began to rise significantly, it became clear that the Monteverde region required more lodging and restaurant services to meet the increased demand. Stepping in to fill this need, Hotel Heliconia opened with only five guest rooms, and one for the owners - doña Roxana and her family - thus launching itself as a tourism pioneer in Monteverde.

Our efforts have paid off. Today, Hotel Heliconia offers our visitors an enchanting space, surrounded by vibrant gardens, lush with local plants, and 55 comfortable, well-equipped rooms. The hotel started with just 5 rooms, then "Little by Little" as the name of the hotel stands for, we began with an ambitious plan to expand our facilities without loosing our vision of a Cozy Style and quality service. Now days we have a total of 29 deluxe fully equipped rooms, beautiful swimming pool with hot water and Jacuzzi, besides, we offer our guests an excellence service in all areas, as well as a restaurant with the best fusion of native and foreign cuisine.
