Canopy tour (Selvatura)

Selvatura Park Canopy Tour is one of the safest adventures in Costa Rica. Our Canopy Tour guides will start by dressing you with the appropriate equipment; then they will take you through each of the 15 cables and 18 platforms and optionally through our very own Tarzan Swing. Selvatura Park is one of the longest if not the longest Canopy Tour in Costa Rica. Also it is the only one located inside the actual virgin cloud forest of Monteverde.

If you are looking for extreme adventures and amazing rides, Selvatura Park's Canopy Tour is your best choice. The Tour usually takes between 2.5 and 3 hours and may be completed by people ranging between the age of 4 and 99. It is safe for all people although some restrictions may apply.

Canopy tour (Aventura)

...After this we are ready to start the adventure, well begging by climbing a spacious metal ladder, which takes us to the first platform, the guides will check again equipment and provide the necessary information on this cable; the pulley and the safety line will be secured and we’re ready to slide over the top of the trees.

We will hare the opportunity to travel along six more cables of different heights and altitudes , before arriving to the “rappel” , were you will fall in to the vacuum helped by a 15 meter vertical rope , for this activity you will be helped and instructed by our guides.

We go back to flying over the forest canopy, passing tree more cables which will lead to “Tarzan swing”, another of the exciting parts of the tour .it consist of a swing in the middle of forest reach a 30 meter height, properly tied from two ropes, for this activity we count with four guides, two helping on the upper platform and two receiving on the lower platform. here you can rest or take a pictures while the rest of the group plunge art to the wild once conduced with this deed we will make a short 300 meter hike , that will take us to a new section of the property with four more cables, including a 700 meter long line...

Walkways and Selvatura Park

Selvatura has a number of attractions besides the Canopy tour mentioned above. They have a Butterfly and Hummingbird garden, a reptile and amphibian exhibit and an insect exhibition and a full service restaurant. It is possible to combine several activities and spend a full day there enjoying a typical cloud forest environment. Below is a brief description of their Walkways tour.

Selvatura's Treetop Walkways is a 1.9 mile (approximately 3 kilometer ) trail that crosses through the cloud forest, in which our visitors will walk through eight different bridges from various lengths ranging between 150 feet ( 50 meters ) up to 510 feet ( 170 meters ) and altitudes ranging between 36 feet ( 12 meters ) up to 180 feet ( 60 meters ). Each of the bridges feature a five foot width, the widest ones in the country, and also a capacity of up to 80 people per bridge making them both the longest and strongest bridge system in Costa Rica. The treetop walkways are suitable for people of all ages and physical condition. Guided and self guided tours may be booked in advance, and the duration of the tour is usually between 1.5 and 2 hours.

Sky Trek, Sky Walk and Sky Tram

SKY TREK is a secure system of trails and zip lines, in the Monteverde Cloud Forest that offers visitors the opportunity to observe and appreciate the nature from different vantage points. SKY TREK is similar to other canopy tours in Costa Rica, but incorporates some significant differences, such as being of larger scale, metal platforms covered with mesh-covered and steel rails which prevent falling or sliding. SKY TREK includes 4544 feet of trails, eleven transversal cables (from 131 feet to 2525 feet) long, and two observatory towers for a panoramic view (360º) of the Guanacaste, San Carlos and Puntarenas lowlands. The tour takes around 2.5 hours.

SKY WALK is a combination of suspension bridges and platforms built in the cloud forest that offers an opportunity to explore the forest canopy in a safe and easy manner. Only 10 pax in the bridges. The tour includes 2.5 Km of trails and six suspension bridges across deep canyons at the level of the tree tops. The longest bridge is about 243 meters (800 feet) in length. SKY WALK allows a vision of the forest from a different perspective which starts with a walk on the ground through the forest, and takes you up to explore the tops of the trees.

At Don Juan Coffee Tour, experience the age-old coffee tradition through a unique tour of our coffee farms. 

Our specialized guides will point out the most important aspects of coffee, its harvest and processing.  They’ll take you through the history of this crop from its beginnings in the Arab African countries and Ethiopia, and highlight they they’ll highlight the importance the “golden bean” (grano de oro) has had in the social, cultural and economic development of Costa Rica.

ATV Aventura

We will head to the practice area , where our bilingual guide will give the respective instructions and safety chat, here the tourist will be taught on the ATV’S  peculiarities , driving skills, average speed, guide signal tour , duration and safety procedures; once there are no doubts or questions , we will follow with the practice on an adequate circuit for this, during the practice the tourist will be able get used to the ATV, the power of the engine controls positions and terrain irregularities like the ones they will face on the drive.

From this moment we are ready to start our adventure, which will have an approximate duration of two hours, and a 20 kilometer journey, among private trails and public low transited roads the route may change depending on the weather conditions and the participant’s skills. Along the tour you will be able to observe abundant flora and fauna, all native of this region, which is really peculiar, since it is placed on the continental divide, allowing us to observe the Nicoya gulf, the Arenal lake and volcano, half way through the drive we will take a small break to rest and take pictures ,then we will continue through villagers trails and farms, until we get back to the 100% Aventura facilities to return the ATV’S and all the gear used; here we will thank you for joining us and will wait for you again.
