Cost per couple: USD $2,900 ($1,450pp). Includes all taxes, tours, private transfers and hotel accommodations as described. It doesn't include the airport departure tax $26pp. The price per person will vary (drop) depending on the number of persons traveling and there are discounts for children depending on their age.

This rate is valid if you visit before Dec 15, 2009. The rates might vary slightly after that date. Hotel availability is not guaranteed.

The San Jose airport is the preferred arrival and departure airport for this package. Please note that the international flights are not included in the rate.

Day 1: Arrival into San Jose

Airport pick up and transfer to your hotel. (30-minute drive). This hotel is located near downtown within walking distance to several attractions. It is a small charming hotel with a Costa Rican personality.

We may use other hotels if you prefer, for example near the airport, in the heart of town, in the suburbs, etc.

8:00 am transfer to the Arenal Volcano Region (3 hrs) or free morning if you arrived yesterday to Arenal.

At about 3:00pm you will be picked up to go on a nice hike to the Arenal Volcano. On flat terrain you will walk for about 30 minutes to a location where you will enjoy a spectacular view of the volcano and Arenal Lake.

After the hike you will visit the famous Tabacon Hot Springs. Buffet dinner included at Tabacon. You may also choose other hot springs instead of Tabacon: Ecotermales or Baldi.

Tabacon Hot Springs

Enjoy a full day tour in Caño Negro. This location is about 1.5 hours away from your hotel. You will board a boat for a 2-hour ride on the Rio Frio where you will observe a number of animals in a true rain forest environment.

After lunch (included) you drive back to the hotel where you arrive at about 3:00pm

Today you may choose between three different tours:

Hanging Bridges - Guided natural history tour. You will be able to appreciate the natural beauties of the majestic environment, thanks to the imposing and huge hanging bridges with the beautiful trails that make an easier access to it and offer great security.

All Terrain Vehicles - Ride your own ATV (2 people may also ride on one ATV). During your adventure, feel free to cool off in a natural, crystal-clear pool with stunning views and a spectacular waterfall any time of year.

Waterfall Rappel - 5 Rappels (4 waterfalls and 1 rock wall) in a rainforest. Hiking on beautiful trails in the canyon between rappels.

If you choose the ATV tour (2 ATV's) the price for the package is $10pp less. If both of you share one ATV it is $35pp less. If you choose the Hanging Bridges tour, the price drops $50pp.

In the afternoon you will go up to the Monteverde Cloud Forest. Normally we work this transfer as follows: We pick you up at the Arenal hotel (shuttle van) and go to the lake where we board a shuttle boat for about 20-25 minutes. On the other side we continue on a private van all the way up to Monteverde. This transfer lasts 2.5 hours.

Today you enjoy one of the best canopy tours (Zip Line) in the country at Selvatura Park. Later you will hike The Walkways which is a network of suspended bridges and trails where you get to enjoy the cloud forest from above. The Walkways tour may be guided or with no guide. If you prefer to have a guide there is a small additional fee.

Selvatura has other attractions which you may visit (optional) like a serpentarium, butterfly garden and a hummingbird exhibit.

Today you may choose to have an optional morning tour in Monteverde or just leave early to the beach.

The drive from Monteverde to Manuel Antonio takes about 5 hours.

Manuel Antonio Beach

After breakfast you will visit the famous Manuel Antonio National Park. This is a half day tour at one of the favorite national parks in the country. Lots of wildlife and beautiful scenery.

After the tour you will be driven back to the hotel or you can stay in the park enjoying the beach and nature trails.

Titi monkey in Manuel Antonio

Today you will enjoy a challenging but gratifying ocean kayak experience. You will paddle your way to Biesanz Bay where there are three small but active coral reefs where you can snorkel. You may also just relax at the white-sand beach if you prefer. Then you may continue paddling towards Manuel Antonio Beach to visit the nesting island sites for some local bird species.

If you feel that kayaking is out of your league you may enjoy a boat tour at the Damas Island mangroves. Here you will learn about the plant and animal species of this interesting ecosystem. You will also enjoy watching the many monkeys as they migrate across the mangrove. A full lunch is included here as well.

Choose either tour, the price is the same.

Afternoon transfer to San Jose. 3.5 hours.
